The College of Dual Studies at Palestine Polytechnic University organized an awareness event today in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, “Pink October,” in cooperation with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, as part of the College’s efforts to promote health awareness among students and the local community.
The event included various educational and advisory activities aimed at highlighting the importance of early detection of breast cancer and methods of prevention, in addition to supporting the physical and mental well-being of women.
A delegation from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, headed by Dr. Hijazi Abu Meizer, participated in the event. He delivered a speech praising the University’s role in promoting health awareness among its students. The program also featured specialized educational lectures, including a lecture on the history of breast cancer, its treatment, and the importance of early screening, delivered by Dr. Ezz Al-Din Al-Hashlamoun; a lecture on proper nutrition and its role in disease prevention, presented by Red Crescent volunteer Shahd Al-Junaidi; and a lecture on psychological support delivered by Dr. Ola Hussein with the support of the German Cooperation Agency.
The event also included an interactive station for awareness and self-examination, as well as educational activities for students that contributed to reinforcing positive health concepts. Informational pamphlets and symbolic gifts carrying messages of support and encouragement for women were also distributed.
The College of Dual Studies emphasized that this event aligns with its social responsibility and its commitment to engaging students in health and humanitarian initiatives that foster a culture of awareness and prevention within Palestinian society.
نظّمت كلية الدراسات الثنائية في جامعة بوليتكنك فلسطين اليوم فعالية توعوية بمناسبة شهر التوعية بسرطان الثدي “أكتوبر الوردي”، وذلك بالتعاون مع جمعية الهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني، ضمن جهود الكلية في تعزيز الوعي الصحي لدى الطلبة والمجتمع المحلي.
وتخللت الفعالية أنشطة توعوية وإرشادية متنوعة، هدفت إلى تسليط الضوء على أهمية الكشف المبكر عن سرطان الثدي وطرق الوقاية منه، بالإضافة إلى دعم الصحة النفسية والجسدية للنساء.
وقد شارك في الفعالية وفد من جمعية الهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني ترأسه الدكتور حجازي أبو ميزر، حيث قدّم كلمة أشاد فيها بدور الجامعة في نشر الوعي الصحي بين طلبتها. كما تضمنت الفعالية محاضرات تثقيفية متخصصة، من بينها محاضرة حول تاريخ سرطان الثدي وعلاجه وأهمية الفحص المبكر قدّمها الدكتور عزّ الدين الهشلمون، ومحاضرة عن التغذية السليمة ودورها في الوقاية من الأمراض قدّمتها متطوعة الهلال شهد الجنيدي، إضافة إلى محاضرة في الدعم النفسي قدّمتها الدكتورة علا حسين بدعم من مؤسسة التعاون الالماني.
كما اشتملت الفعالية على ركن تفاعلي للتوعية والفحص الذاتي، وأنشطة تثقيفية للطلبة ساهمت في ترسيخ المفاهيم الصحية الإيجابية، إلى جانب توزيع نشرات توعوية وهدايا رمزية تحمل رسائل دعم وتشجيع للنساء.
وأكدت كلية الدراسات الثنائية أن هذه الفعالية تأتي ضمن مسؤوليتها المجتمعية، وحرصها على إشراك طلبتها في المبادرات الصحية والإنسانية التي تُعزّز ثقافة الوعي والوقاية في المجتمع الفلسطيني.
